Refund & cancellation policy

Project payments

All projects require a 50% deposit to begin, with the remaining 50% due on launch. The deposit secures your spot on my calendar and covers research, planning, and initial design work.

Cancellation before design is presented

If you cancel before any design work has been shown, I will refund your deposit minus hours already worked at $100/hr. A detailed time log will be provided with your refund.

Cancellation after design is presented

If you cancel after design has been presented — whether or not revisions have been used — the deposit is non-refundable. It covers the research, strategy, and design work already completed on your behalf.

Monthly retainer

The monthly retainer can be cancelled at any time with 30 days written notice. No refunds are issued for partial months. Upon cancellation, hosting, support, updates, and platform-managed security end at the close of the billing period. I will provide the full codebase and migration instructions so you can move to another host.

Post-launch warranty

Every project includes a 30-day post-launch bug-fix warranty. This covers functional errors — broken links, layout issues, form failures, and similar defects. It does not cover new feature requests, content changes, or design revisions, which are handled through your monthly retainer hours.

Privacy policy

Capstone Studio (“I,” “me,” “my”) operates capstonestudio.co. This policy explains what data I collect, why, and how it is handled.

Information I collect

Information you provide: When you submit a contact form or footer form, I receive your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and message contents. This data is sent to and stored by Formspree, which processes form submissions on my behalf.

Analytics data: I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. This includes anonymized data such as pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate geographic location. Google Analytics may use cookies. You can opt out using Google’s browser add-on.

Server logs: My hosting provider (Hostinger) automatically collects standard server log data — IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, and timestamps. This data is used for security and performance monitoring.

How I use your information

• To respond to your inquiry or project brief
• To deliver and maintain your website if you become a client
• To understand site traffic and improve this website
• To prevent spam and abuse (honeypot fields, submission timing)

I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

This site uses cookies only through Google Analytics. No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing tools are used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Data retention

Form submissions are retained in Formspree and my email for as long as needed to respond and maintain the client relationship. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics default settings (14 months). You can request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing tanner@capstonestudio.co.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data I hold about you. Contact me at tanner@capstonestudio.co and I will respond within 30 days.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at individuals under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Terms of service

By using capstonestudio.co or engaging Capstone Studio for services, you agree to these terms.

Scope of work

All project work is defined in a written scope document or proposal agreed upon before work begins. Changes to scope after the project starts may affect timeline and cost, and will be discussed and approved before proceeding.

Intellectual property

Upon receipt of final payment, you own the finished website — code, content, design, and all associated assets created for your project. I retain the right to display the work in my portfolio and case studies unless you request otherwise in writing.

Third-party assets (stock photos, fonts, plugins) are subject to their own license terms, which I will communicate before purchase.

Client responsibilities

You are responsible for providing content (text, images, logos) in a timely manner, providing consolidated feedback during revision rounds, and ensuring you have the rights to any content you supply. Project timelines assume prompt responses — extended delays on your end may shift the delivery date.

Revisions

Every project includes two rounds of design revisions and one round of development polish. A “round” means one set of consolidated feedback addressed in one pass. Additional revision rounds beyond what is included may be scoped and quoted separately.

Timeline

I will provide an estimated timeline in the project proposal. Timelines are estimates, not guarantees, and depend on the complexity of the project and the speed of your feedback. I will communicate proactively if anything changes.

Limitation of liability

Capstone Studio’s total liability for any claim arising from the services is limited to the amount you paid for the project. I am not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages including lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption.

Third-party services

Your project may rely on third-party services (hosting, analytics, payment processors, booking tools). I will configure and integrate these services, but I am not responsible for their uptime, pricing changes, or terms of service. Third-party costs are passed through at cost and disclosed before purchase.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Idaho.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the site or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
