Honest answers to common questions.
01
Process & timeline
How long does a typical project take?
Most projects launch in 1-3 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your request. Smaller landing pages can ship in a few days; larger multi-page builds with integrations take longer. Timeline depends mostly on how quickly I get content and feedback from you.
What do you need from me to start?
A short kickoff call, your current brand assets (logo, photos, copy – whatever exists), and a couple of websites you admire. If you don’t have those, I’ll help you produce them.
How many rounds of revisions are included?
Two rounds of design revisions and one round of development polish are baked into every tier. That’s plenty when feedback is consolidated – more rounds usually means the brief wasn’t clear, which is on me to nail upfront.
02
Pricing & retainers
What does the monthly retainer cover?
Hosting, SSL, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, and a chunk of time each month for content edits and small tweaks. The site keeps working and stays current without you thinking about it.
Can I cancel the retainer?
Yes, anytime with 30 days notice. Keep in mind that canceling means you’ll need to migrate the site to another host on your own, and ongoing support, updates, and platform-managed security end at that point. I’ll hand off the codebase and migration instructions so you’re not stranded, but you’ll be on your own from there.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Third-party services (Stripe fees, premium fonts, stock photos, paid SaaS integrations) are passed through at cost and called out before I commit. The quote is the price.
03
Tech & ownership
Who owns the site when it’s done?
You do – entirely. Code, content, domain, accounts. I’ll never hold any of it hostage. If you ever want to take the site elsewhere, I hand over the keys.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes. Professional and Partner tiers ship on a CMS that gives you a clean editor for text, images, blog posts, products, and so on.
What about SEO?
Every tier includes foundational SEO: fast load times, clean semantic HTML, proper metadata, sitemap, alt text, and structured data optimized for search engines and AI discoverability. No shady link-building.
What is the SEO article writing add-on?
I write keyword-researched blog articles in your site’s voice and publish them on your blog. Every article is structured for search engines and AI discoverability. Available in Starter (2/mo), Growth (4/mo), and Authority (8/mo) tiers.
04
Working together
What if I’m not happy with the design?
That’s what the two revision rounds are for. I don’t move to development until you’re genuinely happy with the design direction. If we’re still not aligned after two rounds, we’ll talk honestly about whether the project is the right fit — no hard feelings either way.
Do you work with businesses outside the US?
Yes. Most communication is async — email and shared documents — so timezone differences rarely matter. Calls are scheduled around whatever works for both of us.
What platform do you build on?
Most sites are built on WordPress with hand-coded HTML and CSS. No page builders, no drag-and-drop themes. The result is a fast, clean site you actually own and can maintain.
Do you redesign existing websites?
Yes. A lot of my projects are redesigns. I’ll audit what you have, figure out what’s working and what isn’t, and scope the rebuild from there. Same process, same pricing tiers.
What if my project is bigger than the Partner tier?
I’ll scope it custom. Start a project brief and describe what you need — I’ll reply with a fixed quote and timeline tailored to your situation.
How do we communicate during the project?
Mostly email and a shared document where you can leave feedback directly on the design. Kickoff and check-in calls happen over video. No project management tool you need to learn — I keep it simple.
What’s your payment and refund policy?
50% deposit to start, 50% on launch. If you cancel after design has been presented, the deposit is non-refundable — it covers the research, planning, and design work already completed. If you cancel before any design work is shown, I’ll refund the deposit minus hours worked at $100/hr.
